It may be nice to use your iPhone, iPod touch or (in future) iPad as a multitouch-enabled controller for your Mac or PC. Guess what, you can, thanks to the world’s oldest peripherals maker, Logitech.

The maker has just introduced an iPhone application called Touch Mouse, which lets you use your device as that controller. Use it, for example, when you have your Mac plugged into your television, or just as a different interface to rest parts of your wrist and eyes.

Touch Mouse requires installation of server software on your PC, as well as an App download on your iPhone. It works over Wi-Fi, so you can use it anywhere in your house.

Just like an iPhone, you can see what you’re typing on the device as well as on your Mac screen, both keyboard and mouse work in landscape and portrait modes.

Once you’re up and running, Touch Mouse will allow you to take advantage of the following features:

• Multi-touch trackpad with the option for two or three mouse buttons
• Two-finger scrolling
• Keyboard with Control, Alt, Command/Windows keys
• On-screen text display while typing
• Show or hide the keyboard at any time
