iPhone 3GS: 24Kpwn still lives on it!

Λίγες ώρες πριν, είχαμε την δυνατότητα να επαληθεύσουμε το 24Kpwn exploit που είχε βρεθεί και στο iPod Touch 2G είναι ακόμα παρόν στο bootrom του iPhone 3GS. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι μπορούμε να εφαρμόσουμε την ίδια τεχνική που έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί στο redsn0w για να κάνουμε jailbreak και unlock το iPhone 3GS.

Αυτά είναι πολύ καλά νέα! Φαίνεται ότι το bootrom εμφανίστηκε μέσα στον Αύγουστο 2008, οπότε η αποκάλυψη του 24Kpwn νωρίτερα αυτό το χρόνο δεν έβλαψε το iPhone 3GS. Important: Apple has not given up on the cat&mouse game, and in fact there are challenging aspects of the 3GS jailbreak that aren’t in the other devices. It’ll take some time to safely work these into our tools, but the fundamental weaknesses are there: The bootrom is exploitable via 24Kpwn, and the baseband is exploitable via ultrasn0w. (And just like with the 3G, ultrasn0w for 3GS requires that you not update your baseband when Apple comes out with new firmware.)
