Speaking of iPhone 3GS accessibility features, it looks like Apple is improving them in iPhone 3.1 Beta 2 by adding a new “triple click” option to the home button to toggle VoiceOver, Toggle White on Black, and Ask (which then will pop up a menu offering Turn VoiceOver On, Turn Zoom On, Turn White on Black On).

Kudos to Apple for not only doing a great job implementing the various accessibility features in iPhone 3GS, but for continuing to improve them via forthcoming firmware.

iPhone firmware 3.1 beta 2 unleashed!

Η Apple έδωσε στους developers σήμερα την καινούρια beta 2 έκδοση του iPhone firmware 3.1.
Προσοχή: Μην κάνετε update ακόμα δεν γνωρίζουμε αν το νέο αυτό update κόβει ultrasn0w ή purplesn0w και γενικότερα το Unlock & Jailbreak που δουλεύει μέχρι στιγμής με την έκδοση 3.0!

Apple has seeded iPhone OS 3.1 Beta 2 to developers along with a new version of the iPhone SDK.

As usual no information detailing changes or new features has been provided.

iPhone SDK 3.1 beta 2 and iPhone OS 3.1 beta 2 are now available on the iPhone Dev Center. These versions are for development and testing only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development. Please read the iPhone OS beta Pre-Install Advisory and the iPhone SDK 3.1 beta 2 release notes before downloading and installing.

Use the Apple Bug Reporter if you discover compatibility or functionality issues while testing with the iPhone OS 3.1 beta 2 release.

Η iPhone dev team προειδοποιεί ότι το ultrasn0w μπορεί να μην δουλέψει ποτέ αν κάνουμε update στην έκδοση 3.1 beta…

Το MMS Update που ανακαλύφθηκε ότι υπάρχει στην έκδοση αυτή μπορεί να είναι βιτρίνα και στην πραγματικότητα να κόβει το Jailbreak/Unlock και γενικότερα όλη την δουλειά που έκανε η iPhone dev team μέχρι στιγμής!

You’ve seen us give this warning before, and there are only so many ways to say it or come up with a clever title But here it is: ultrasn0w users must stay away from any firmware updates past 3.0 (including today’s 3.1 beta) until we release the tools that let you update the firmware without updating the baseband. For most phones out there, baseband updates are irreversible and you’ll lose ultrasn0w.

The 3.0 jailbreak was one of those (rare) times where both the jailbreak and the unlock coincided (the only other time was 2.2). It’s important that people realize that *most* firmware releases aren’t like that, and you need to take steps (via the tools) to separate the firmware update from its included baseband update.

This warning does not apply to the iPhone 2G, which uses BootNeuter for the unlock, not ultrasn0w.

Όπως βλέπουμε η Apple δεν έχασε χρόνο και έριξε την iPhone 3.1 beta έκδοση για δοκιμές στους developers. Όσοι είστε developers μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε και να τεστάρετε την έκδοση 3.1 εδώ

Update: The MMS option has been enabled on the iPhone 3G and 3GS under 3.1 although sending an attachment results in a failure. This is likely because AT&T hasn’t enabled MMS on US iPhones.
