So, less than a week ago we have announced Icy 1.0, a lightweight alternative to the popular Cydia installer. During the week, a tremendous amount of people have downloaded it, and we have received a lot of feedback.
Based on the feedback we are pleased to announce an immediate availability of Icy 1.1. There are still stuff we’d like to implement, but overall, this release addresses a fair chunk of what you have asked for:
Recent Packages;
Support for More Info / Screenshots links in packages;
When there are package updates available, Updated tab will be shown by default in the Installed section;
Supports Conflicts package specification;
Added custom Cydia header to requests so Icy is indistinguishable from Cydia from the repository point of view now;
Moved Install/Remove buttons to the toolbar;
Shows console log for dpkg failures;
Recursive dependencies supported much better now;
Support for WinterBoard so Icy should be themeable now;
Removed Essential tag in the Icy’s own info (mistakingly copied from Cydia);
Some cosmetic and minor fixes;
Some code profiling to speed up the UI even more.
Recent Packages may look odd at first, by listing all of the available packages. This is because APT repositories has no per-package “date” information so we have to store the information about when a particular version has appeared by ourselves. So first time when you refresh your sources, you will see a lot of ‘recent’ pages — this will go away in a few refreshes when real changed packages are being picked up.
Source refreshes are still strictly manual. Next updates of Icy will allow a setting to enable automatic refreshes.
If you don’t like how Icy looks, we encourage you to create a WinterBoard theme for it. 
If you’d like to see Icy in your native language (as it’s fully localizable), we will post the files that need to be translated on the blog tomorrow. We got Russian and German covered (German is coming in the next minor update), so we will be glad to add your language to the mix too!
Tomorrow the work on 1.2 will start — next thing in the pipeline is the dependencies view.

Τέλος το μυστήριο, η Ripdev για άλλη μια φορά χτυπάει με μια νέα εφαρμογή για το iPhone το λεγόμενο Icy. Δεν είναι το Cydia 2 που πολλοί νομίζατε αλλά μια εφαρμογή σαν το Cydia πολύ πιο ελαφριά και πιο γρήγορη!
What is Icy?
Icy is our take on the freeware package manager that uses APT repositories to install and remove packages available in another free iPhone installer application, Cydia. The goal was to create a fast, lightweight and more slick solution that is easy and cool to use. Icy is only at version 1.0, but we’re already working on the improvements.
Slick Interface
The whole interface was designed with three goals in mind: fast, effective, cool. You get a simple yet easy to use interface that is purely black and white; generic icons to save up on your bandwidth; stylish animated installation screens allowing you to see what exactly is happening without having to read through scrolling text gibberish. Icons used in the application were designed by the well-known artist Max Rudberg.

Built on Open Source Foundation
Icy is built on top of the widely know open-source packaging system DPKG, the same as used in Cydia. To save up on space and efficiency, Icy is not using APT in favor of its own solution that is fully compatible with the APT repositories. Icy is also using a well-known networking library Libcurl to download repositories in a highly effective manner.
Light
The complete Icy installation only takes a little over than 1 Mb on your device as compared to 32 Mb with Cydia. The overall interface is also engineered with lightness in mind — pure black and white themes.

Cydia Compatible
Icy is compatible with Cydia — it will use Cydia (APT) sources to fetch package info and updates, then install the packages and see the packages installed from Cydia. You no longer have to be bound to the single solution — instead, you’re free to use the one you feel more convenient at the moment.
Network Efficient
Icy is designed to consume minimum network traffic. It will never refresh sources automatically — it’s up to you to decide when you want that to happen. When checking sources it will only check file modification dates to not download the index files when they did not change since the last check. In a nutshell, Icy lets you control your network traffic.
Landscape Goodness
As set by Apple in the upcoming 3.0 firmware, Icy is following the trend and allows you to browse installed packages in landscape mode.

Όπως ξέρετε εδώ και καιρό μια νέα εφαρμογή έρχεται για Mac & iPhone απο την Ripdev, το όνομα της είναι InstallerApp και θα σας επιτρέπει να εγκαταστήσετε πακέτα απο πολλά διαφορετικά repositories (Installer & Cydia) στο iPhone σας αμέσως με απο τον υπολογιστή σας.
Για να ρίξουμε όμως μια ματιά, με μια απλή ματία στην εφαρμογή μπορούμε να δούμε ότι έχει το friendly user interface όλων αυτών των εφαρμογών που υπάρχουν για το Mac OS X (iTunes, Mail).
Όταν το iPhone μας συνδεθεί για πρώτη φορά πάνω στο Mac και ο InstallerApp είναι ανοιχτό θα δούμε το παρακάτω μήνυμα
Μας εξηγεί ότι για να εγκαταστήσουμε και να συγχρονίσουμε εφαρμογές μεταξύ του Mac και του iPhone θα χρειαστεί να περαστεί κάποιο software στο iPhone μας. Κάνοντας κλικ στο Install μέσω Pusher ακολουθόντας τις οδηγίες που εμφανίζονται στην οθόνη αρχίζει η εγκατάσταση που κατά την διάρκεια της διάφορα μηνύματα θα εμφανίζονται στο iTunes, μην δίνετε σημασία…
Αν τα καταφέρατε θα πρέπει να δείτε στην οθόνη του iPhone to εικονίδιο του InstallerApp και στην οθόνη του Mac σας την παρακάτω εικόνα
Μετά το τέλος της διαδικασίας θα δείτε το παρακάτω μήνυμα στο InstallerApp
Το κεντρικό παράθυρο, το οποίο δείχνει:
Την δραστηριότητα/Activity (κάτω αριστερή γωνία)
Την λίστα με τις κατηγορίες απο τα sources που έχουμε περάσει. Μερικές standard κατηγορίες είναι οι [b]Featured[/b], [b]All Packages[/b] (περιέχει όλα τα πακέτα αλφαβητικά για να μην χρειαστεί να ψάχνουμε σε κατηγορίες αν ξέρουμε το όνομα του), [b]Installed Packages[/b] (περιέχει τα πακέτα που έχουμε ήδη εγκαταστήσει), [b]Recent Packages[/b] (περιέχει τα πιο πρόσφατα πακέτα που έχουν προστεθεί στον Installer) και φυσικά η κατηγορία [b]Updated[/b] που εμφανίζεται μόνο αν υπάρχει κάποια αναβάθμιση σε κάποιο απο τα πακέτα που
έχουμε ήδη εγκαταστήσει.
Τις πληροφορίες για την επιλεγμένη εφαρμογή (πάνω δεξιά) και ακριβώς απο κάτω τα πακέτα της επιλεγμένης κατηγορίας.
Δύο κουμπάκια κάτω αριστερά για synchronization και εύκολη πρόσβαση στα sources.
Sources
Εδώ έχουμε την δυνατότητα να περάσουμε sources απο Installer & Cydia και να αφαιρέσουμε φυσικά. Για να δείτε εαν ένα source δουλεύει όντως σωστά αφού γράψετε την διεύθυνση του περιμένετε να εμφανιστεί το όνομα του.
Πηγαίνοντας στα sources βλέπουμε και άλλες 2 επιλογές
General
Οι μόνες μας επιλογές είναι για αυτόματο έλεγχο των αναβαθμίσεων εγκατεστημένων πακέτων ή του ίδιου του προγράμματος.
Licenses
Εδώ μπορείτε να περάσετε τις άδειες σας για την ενεργοποίηση του InstallerApp, να δείτε πόσες συσκευές έχετε κάνει authorize και πόσες σας μένουν ακόμα.
Το κόστος της άδειας κοστίζει 7$ (η πληρωμή γίνεται με πιστωτικές κάρτες, PayPal, Yandex κτλ.) και σας δίνει την δυνατότητα authorize τριών συσκευών αμέσως. Χωρίς την άδεια ο InstallerApp δουλεύει κανονικά χωρίς όμως να μπορεί να συγχρονίσει το iPhone, αλλα με την δυνατότητα να κάνει Push στο iPhone σας και να περάσει τον Installer.app στο iPhone.
Κυκλοφόρησε η αναβαθμισμένη έκδοση του Juice Drop για Mac.
Στην version 1.1 του JuiceDrop για το Mac OS X θα βρείτε τα παρακάτω:
- Διορθώθηκε ένα πρόβλημα με νέους τύπους αρχείων
- Διορθώθηκε πρόβλημα σύγκρισης αρχείων όταν “ανέβουν” στο iPhone
- Προσθέθηκε αυτόματος έλεγχος Software Update
- Ρυθμίσεις των path αποθηκεύονται στο κάθε προτόκολο χωριστά τώρα.
