Θυμάται κανείς τον παλιό καλό Installer; Δεν νομίζω… πριν το Cydia τα πράγματα ήταν πολύ πιο “γρήγορα” και “εύκολα” με τον Installer μπορούσαμε να κάνουμε εγκατάσταση πολλά πακέτα μαζί (μόνο σε jailbroken συσκευές φυσικά) χωρίς να έρχονται τα κατεβατά errors που μας βγάζει συνεχώς το Cydia. Ξέθαψα ένα βίντεο που έγραφα όταν έκανα beta testing στον Installer 4 για να το δείξω σε ένα φίλο… R.I.P. Ripdev.
It’s been a great two years, but unfortunately, the time has come for Ripdev to close its doors. There are many reasons for this, most of which we probably will never disclose (unless we are forced to). The important thing is that due to circumstances we will likely be unable to support the titles we have created over the years further. They will be perfectly operatable on the firmware versions they were created for, and you will be able to download and use them — but they will no longer be supported and updated (except for i2Reader Pro that is not being developed by us and that will be kept in sync with its App Store version). We will, of course, transfer the licenses to the new devices — just email us. Our Cydia repository will be operational until at least next year, so be assured that the products you liked and paid for will be available for you to (re)install.
It was a honor to be in the iPhone jailbreak community, and we are proud that we have certainly made a ripple or two. Farewell!

The search bar in address book is quite unhandy. It truncates some letters and you cannot easily find the one you need. Our modification smartly groups least used letters together so you can switch to another section as quick as possible.
Phone Fix
Κάποιοι πάροχοι τηλεφωνίας στέλνουν τους αριθμούς για εισερχόμενες κλήσεις σαν 8-123-456-7890 και οχι σαν +7-123-456-7890. Έτσι μερικοί αριθμοί από τις επαφές σαν δεν μπορούν να αναγνωριστούν.
Some local operators send the phone numbers for incoming calls as 8-123-456-7890 instead of standard +7-123-456-7890. This way, phone numbers from your address book do not get detected! Russian Project efficiently solves this problem.
CallData
Με το CallData σε αριθμούς που δεν υπάρχουν στις επαφές σας μπορείτε να δείτε από που σας καλούν… μην φανταστείτε GPS τοποθεσία, απλά κάτι σαν Χαλκίδα, Ελλάδα για παράδειγμα!
Enhances the built-in number recognition and shows the callers’ region right on the call screen (when the number is not in the address book). A lot of country databases available.
Η RipDev έβγαλε το νέο free update για το InstallerApp…
We have just released a free update to our package installer tool, InstallerApp, for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. Among other things, we have ensured it works on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, removed support for Installer repositories (that are no longer supported anyway), and stripped off the Pusher technology in favor of the existing jailbreak solutions such as PwnageTool and redsn0w. To install stuff onto the iPhone, simply install package named InstallerApp Support from Cydia or Icy on the device (from our repository apt.ripdev.com) and there you go!
As a result, InstallerApp is now 1.2 Mb (or 4.2 for Microsoft Windows) as opposed to 17 Mb before.

Η ripdev συνεχίζει χωρίς προβλήματα και μετά από αρκετό καιρό βγάζει σήμερα την έκδοση 3.0 του Kate το οποίο είναι συμβατό με το iPhone OS 3.0.
Δεν υπάρχουν πολλά καινούρια χαρακτηριστικά, διορθώθηκαν μόνο πολλά bugs!

Ναι! Το Hood ήρθε επιτέλους στην έκδοση 3.0… πανάλαφρο για εσάς που δεν θέλετε να κάνετε 15 δευτερόλεπτα για να ανοίξετε/κλείσετε το wifi, bluetooth ή το edge σας. Για όσους ενδιαφέρονται μπορούν να βρούνε το Hood 1.2b1 για το 3.x στο beta repo της ripdev http://apt.ripdev.com/seed
Επίσης η Ripdev ενημερώνει ότι το Kate θα κυκλοφορήσει σύντομα για την έκδοση 3.x, και μια νέα έκδοση του Hood με περισσότερες δυνατότητες!

Today, a new iPhone OS, 3.0 has been released. This is obviously a big and long waited for update for all iPhone users. And we believe, it is about time to officially announce that we are discontinuing support of Installer platform for iPhone and iPod touch.
Over past 1.5 years when we were involved in the Installer project (first in 3.x versions, then in 4.x), a lot of things has happened and we believe it’s time to unify the installation platform for the iPhone — and clearly, over the past year this is DPKG, thanks to tremendous effort of Jay Freeman and his Cydia. We have also dropped our two cents by providing our own themeable and lightweight DPKG installer tool, named Icy.
So now you have a choice, which tool to use — and no matter what you choose, it will be compatible with each other. We obviously cannot speak for Jay, but we will do our best to make sure two products play nicely together.
The Installer 4 repositories we manage will be running until July 1st, 2009, then they will be discontinued and brought offline. So if you wanted to get something that is only available in the Installer — this is the time to do so.
We would like to take the opportunity and say “thank you” to everyone who has contributed and supported Installer project in any way. You rock.

Τι είναι το iDA; Είναι η πρώτη εμπορική εφαρμογή GPS turn-by-turn software πλοήγησης που κατασκευάστηκε απο την Vobis Computer και την Sygic και διανέμεται από την Ripdev. Αν ή χώρα μας δεν είναι μέσα στις χώρες που υποστηρίζονται καλό είναι να επλίζουμε!

A semi-minor update to Icy is available immediately — aimed primarily at iPhone OS 3.0 compatibility — thanks again for your support!
- Now automatically moves some of the folders to stash if needed to prevent situations with insufficient disk space when installing some packages.
- UI fixes for smooth display on the iPhone OS 3.0 (category labels in Recent and Installed are back!).
- Category names in the Installed packages section are now localized.
- Report to Maintainer email now contains device type and firmware version for better problem diagnostics.
- Misc fixes.
