Grooooovy! One of the all-time most iconic video game characters is now coming to iPhone & iPod touch!
Live or re-live the freaky adventures of Earthworm Jim in a refreshing remake of the classic action/platform game.
Jim was an ordinary earthworm who did very earthworm-like things. One day, during a battle in outer-space, a suit dropped to Earth and landed on Jim, mutating him into a large and intelligent (at least by earthworm standards) superhero. When Jim learns of the evil plans of Psy-Crow and Queen Slug-for-a-Butt, he decides to rescue Princess What’s-Her-Name.
The iPhone 3GS may be able to capture, trim and despatch video clips to YouTube, but its editing features are pretty limited. Now there’s a better choice, Nexvio’s ReelDirector.
This nice app lets you do all kinds of things, from adding titles and credits to your clips to editing and arranging clips to a timeline.
Not just that, but you also get to add transitions, arrange positions for text, and offers four different text styles you can apply to your clip.
We think it looks promising and it is available now from the App Store for just $7.99.

From UnlimTones developer we can found now MyTones on Cydia, an application that we can use to create ringtones directly on the iPhone.
The operation is quite simple, the only thing we need to do is to choose the song and set the start point and the end point bars and then click “Make ringtone”
After the end of the process we can use and set the ringtone from Settings > Sounds.
You can find the application into Cydia on the BigBoss Repo.

Mozilla Working on iPhone App. Don’t Hold Your Breath for Firefox
This weekend GigaOm brought word that Mozilla was working on an iPhone app. Of course, thoughts turn immediately towards their most famous product — Firefox. However, Apple doesn’t allow 3rd party code interpreters and that means no Gecko HTML renderer and no TraceMonkey Javascript engine. And again, I don’t think there’s any need for Mozilla to make a WebView wrapper…
So what else is there? Browser link sync? The iPhone will sync Safari links, or Internet explorer on Windows, but syncing links for Firefox users is thus far unsupported, and no doubt many would love to have that functionality:
Later, I sat around gabbing with Lilly and Jay Sullivan, Mozilla’s VP of Mobile, talking about Weave and the Awesome Bar, which is a way to get access to all your browsing history and bookmarks by just typing them in the URL bar on your browser. And while we were talking about Weave, I asked them if it was going to be part of this new, mysterious iPhone app. Lilly and Sullivan smiled and remained silent. Interestingly, they didn’t correct me.
Malik notes that Weave might be too competitive with MobileMe for Apple’s tastes, but that of course will depend on the exact implementation offered on the iPhone, and how flexible Apple is feeling (more so than ever, it seems of late). And if ever a Weave there was, bringing it to the iPhone certainly makes sense.

The much anticipated and hyped Rock Band for iPhone and iPod Touch is out! We first scooped the news of the launch of the app a few weeks ago. Shortly afterwards, Rock Band for the iPhone/iPod touch was officially announcedby Electronic Arts. The app costs $9.99 and can be found here.
The game features a multi-player mode (via Bluetooth), allowing up to 4 players to rock out on the go. While you can also play via single-player mode, you can use the integrated Facebook Connect to invite your friends to join in.

Rock Band for iPhone allows players to choose between vocals, drums, bass, or guitar. The game involves tapping the screen on the correct notes and the vocals are also performed through tapping (as opposed to singing). The app features 20 tracks from a varied list of artists and musicians (see the song list below). The app has premium content that can be purchased via an in-game store. Rock Band also includes an in-game message center to check your band’s status and will have push notifications when friends invite you to rock out.
In an earlier post, we speculated the impact of Rock Band’s app on Tapulous with their immensely popular Tap Tap Revenge series. Tap Tap Revenge already has a massive following on the platform, but it’s very similar to Rock Band. Tapulous just launched Tap Tap Revenge 3, which focused on premium content through In-App Purchase, similar to Rock Band.

“Move Along” – All American Rejects
“Sabotage” – Beastie Boys

Popular social gaming developer Zynga has just released Mafia Wars on Apple’s App Store, bringing the company’s incredibly popular game, which has over 9 million monthly users on Facebook alone, to the iPhone. You can grab the free game here (iTunes Link).
The game revolves around building up a virtual mafia family with other members, earning virtual cash to buy weapons, and performing ‘jobs’ to earn more. While the gameplay is primarily text based, Mafia Wars has an impressive interface and array of graphics that make it feel more polished than some knockoffs, which often are filled with clunky text fields. And as I’ve said about other similar games, while Mafia Wars may not look like much fun at first glance it can become very addictive.

One apparent omission in the iPhone app that will frustrate veteran Mafia Wars gamers is that there’s apparently no way to link to mobile game to your profile on social networks. This is a bit odd given that Zynga has previously used Facebook Connect integration on its Live Poker application, and I’ll be surprised if we don’t see it as a feature in a future release (though Zynga may have purposely omitted it to start with a new level playing field).
Mafia Wars is one of a handful of primarily text-based games that have become very popular on sites like Facebook and MySpace, and have also had more than their fair share of drama. The trend kicked off with the release and huge popularity of Mob Wars, which was built by a former employee of SGN named David Maestri as a side-project (a lengthly legal battle ensued as SGN tried to lay claim to the game, with the two parties finally settling in December). Zynga also got in on the action with Mafia Wars, which now garners a whopping 9,209,083 monthly active users on Facebook alone. In an attempt to defend Mob Wars (which only has a fourth of Mafia Wars’ user base on Facebook) Maestri is suing Zynga for copyright infringement.
Other mob-based games on the App Store include SGN’s Mafia: Respect and Retaliation and iMob.
Saurik tweeted some hours ago about his new Cycript…
Cycript: Objective-JavaScript
What is Cycript?
A programming language designed to blend the barrier between Objective-C and JavaScript. This project has similar goals to JSCocoa, but a very different set of starting technologies and a different guiding philosophy. In particular, Cycript has started life with a full-blown JavaScript parser/serializer, allowing it to have interesting hybrid syntax without constraints (such as those imposed on JSCocoa by JSLint).
How do you pronounce “Cycript”?
I pronounce it “sscript” (with a geminate, aka long, ‘s’). I doubt anyone else will pronounce it like this, but I have my hopes.
Where do I get it?
Right now you can find releases of it at: http://www.cycript.org/debs/. This package depends on MobileSubstrate and libffi (both of which are in Cydia).
So, how do I use it?!
Although you can write full applications in Cycript, the fastest way to get playing with it is via the immediate console: just type “cycript”.
You can find more information in the Cycript site

“It’s the ultimate quick play twitch game and serves to prove the argument that iPhone isn’t a game system that provides the console-like experience of the PSP. It proves iPhone can take bite-sized distractions and explode them into gaming heroin.” PocketGamer
“Fast load times combined with short (yet exciting) game sessions really make for an attractive game to play on a mobile device.” TouchArcade
